Around the Chongyang Festival or Double Ninth Festival (the ninth day of the lunar ninth month), 11Beijing municipal parks and the Museum of Chinese Garden and Landscape Architecture plan to roll out activities for the public to experience the traditional culture, such as climbing mountain, appreciating chrysanthemum, respecting the elderly and autumn outing.
An important custom of the Chongyang Festival is climbing up to a higher location. Such activities will be held at Jianshan Park, Fragrant Hill Park and other hot scenic areas for climbing, where Chinese calligraphy pieces meaning"good fortune" and “longevity” will be sent as gifts to senior climbers for good wishes.
Activities of appreciating chrysanthemum will be held at Tiantan Park, Beijing Botanical Garden, Beihai Park, Taoranting Park and others, which are also good choices.
In addition, Tiantan Park will give a Chongyang special performance, including performing representative ritual and court music.
While, the Fragrant Hill Park will host an activity for the elderly to recite poems, and appreciate calligraphy and paintings.
